How do I Choose the Right Mask?

Factors to consider when finding the mask, are fit and use.

Seeing as the masks are becoming a part of our daily lives moving forward, it’s also important to consider the maintenance and sustainability of each mask — whether the production is chemical free, whether the mask is natural, made from organic materials.

On a broad note, here are a few tips for how masks should sit on your face

  • Masks should fit comfortably on your face
  • Covering both nose and mouth
  • Little to no gap between your face and edges where particles can get through.

People are using a variety of masks — surgical masks, N95 respirators, simple cloth masks, anti-pollution masks, ayurvastra ayurvedic masks. Each type has different pros and cons.

Ayurvedic Masks

  • These masks are crafted from Ayurvedic, treated fabric, called Ayurvastra. This fabric, loosely translated to ‘healthy clothing,’ helps to bring the body back to a state of balance and health
  • The medicinal dyes used for each kind of mask also has added benefits for the wearer, helping boost immunity, protect from toxins, and much more.
  • Eco-friendly, chemical-free production

  • Fit like a perfect seal so no gaps allow airborne viruses in

Anti-Pollution Mask

  • There are many versions of this mask — N99, N95. Can be used by the general public.
  • Reusable, within limits. To be discarded if there is difficulty breathing. Follow instructions on the packet of the mask you purchase for usage.

How Do I Take Care of My Mask?

Ayurvedic Masks

  • Similar to cloth masks have to be washed after each use
  • Dried completely
  • Not to be worn if damp or soiled

Cloth Masks

  • Have to be washed after each use
  • Dry them completely
  • Not to be worn while damp, or soiled with spit or mucus.

Anti-Pollution Masks

  • While reusable, they do have a shelf life — once the filter gets clogged with pollutants, they stop being effective.
